What MyCurrency Checkout is

MyCurrency Checkout is the merchant side of MyCurrency. It is a point-of-sale app for your phone that lets you:

  • give points to customers — by phone number, or by showing a QR code
  • let customers spend points on your products at the counter
  • track your balance and every reward and redemption
  • give your staff their own limited accounts

MyCurrency Checkout does not hold value of its own. The points always live on the MyCurrency platform; this app is how you hand them out and take them back.

Two apps, two jobs. You design your currency, branches, products, and reward rates in the MyCurrency app. You hand out and accept points in the MyCurrency Checkout app. This guide covers the second one.

2

Before you start

You need:

A phone number This is your identity in the app. Everything routes by it.
A currency Created in the MyCurrency app, with at least one branch.
Access to the issuer account You must be able to sign in to the MyCurrency account that created the currency, to prove ownership.
At least one branch You cannot send rewards without one. Create branches in the MyCurrency app.

Two kinds of account

Master merchant Staff
Send rewards
Show QR / take redemptions
View balances and history ✅ (their own)
Claim or transfer currency ownership
Invite, remove, or delete staff
Edit reward rates ❌ — those live in the MyCurrency app

Creating your merchant account

  1. Open the app. You land on Welcome back to MicroCurrency Merchant Portal (the app still carries the former name on this screen).
  2. Tap Register.
  3. Enter your phone number, a password of at least 8 characters, and confirm it. The form checks itself as you type and the button stays dimmed until everything is valid.
  4. Tap Create account. A text message with a 6-digit code is sent.
  5. On Verify your phone number, type the code — on most phones it fills in by itself — and tap Verify and create account.

You are signed in immediately. There is no separate first login.

If the code does not arrive

  • Resend code becomes tappable after a 60-second countdown.
  • Wrong number? Change it takes you back to the form with everything still filled in.
  • After 5 wrong entries the code is dead — only a resend recovers it.
  • A code expires after 10 minutes, and only the newest code counts.
  • If you request too many codes, the app tells you how many minutes to wait (at most one hour).

Signing in later

Enter your phone number and password and tap Login. Your session lasts 24 hours, then you sign in again. There is no silent renewal.

The sign-in screen shows the current time in both your local time and UTC, and a failed attempt shows the exact failure time — screenshot it if you ever need to report a problem.

Never help someone register over a number that isn’t theirs. If a number is already registered, the correct answer is always “sign in instead” or escalate to support.

4

Connecting your currency

Until you connect a currency, the app is locked to a welcome screen. This is the one-time step that proves the currency is really yours.

How it works: the app gives you a random confirmation amount. You send exactly that amount from your MyCurrency issuer wallet to your Checkout account. When it arrives, ownership is confirmed automatically.

Step by step

  1. On the welcome screen tap Claim a currency.
  2. Type your currency’s name. Suggestions appear as you type, each labelled Available, Owned by you, or Owned by another merchant.
  3. Tap an Available result, then tap Verify ownership.
  4. A sheet opens showing This is your confirmation amount — a whole number between 1 and 999. Keep this screen open, or note the number down.
  5. Open the MyCurrency app, signed in as the account that created this currency. Go to My Wallet, find the MyCurrency Checkout card below your issuer balance, and tap Send to Checkout. Send exactly the confirmation amount.
  6. Return to MyCurrency Checkout and tap I have sent the confirmation amount. The app watches for up to 90 seconds.
  7. You now own this currency. The app takes you to Home.

You have 15 minutes from when the amount is generated.

If something goes wrong

Situation What to do
You sent the wrong amount Do not start over. Send the exact amount for the same attempt — tap Retry verification. Both amounts are credited when the claim succeeds.
It arrived after 15 minutes Tap Start a fresh claim. A new confirmation amount is issued, and the earlier points are added automatically when it succeeds.
The window expired with nothing sent Tap Start a fresh claim.
The currency shows “Owned by another merchant” Use Transfer ownership instead — see section 12.
You are on a staff account Only master accounts can claim. Sign in as the master account.

Your points are never lost. Anything sent to Checkout that could not be matched is held, not refunded, and is swept to you the moment a claim succeeds. If a claim succeeds with held points waiting, the success screen tells you: “N points from earlier transfers were credited together with this claim.”

The Home dashboard

Home shows, top to bottom:

HeaderMerchant account (or Staff account), your phone number, and a settings gear.

Balance cardAvailable to issue: the points you can actually hand out right now, which is your balance minus anything already reserved for rewards customers have not claimed yet.

Beside it sits a freshness pill:

Pill Meaning
Synced 12s ago (green) Up to date.
Syncing… A refresh is running.
Not synced Loaded, but no timestamp available.
Degraded (red) The last load failed — the number may be stale.

Pull down to refresh at any time.

Currency box — the currency you are working with. Tap it to switch if you hold more than one; it is static if you only have one.

Quick actionsSend reward and Show QR. They turn grey and read “Select a currency first” when no currency is chosen.

History — your ten most recent activities, with View full history.

Master merchants also see Claim a currency and Transfer ownership cards.

“Ownership transferred” badge. If a currency’s ownership moved to another merchant, you still see your leftover balance and can still spend it — the amber badge only means that future deposits now go to the new owner.

6

Rewarding a customer by phone number

This is the everyday flow. It works whether or not the customer has ever heard of MyCurrency.

  1. Open the Send tab.
  2. Type the customer’s phone number. The country code is added automatically — 0917… is understood as +63 917….
  3. Pick the currency. Your available balance and quick-pick amounts appear.
  4. Pick the sales location — which branch this purchase happened at. This is always required. Each branch shows its reward rate, and a branch with its own rate carries a BRANCH OVERRIDE badge. The last branch you used for this currency is pre-selected.
  5. Enter the amount, in one of two modes: - Fixed amount — type the points directly. - Points back — type what the customer spent, and the app calculates the reward from the branch’s rate. The line reads “Applied points-back rate: 4%” and the preview updates as you type.
  6. Tap Review Reward, check the summary, and tap Confirm & Send.

What happens next depends on the customer

Customer What happens
Has a linked MyCurrency wallet The points land in their MyCurrency wallet immediately. No page, no text message.
Has used your rewards before The points arrive instantly, and a confirmation text tells them what they received. The success screen also shows a QR code that opens their rewards page — offer it if they want to see their points right away.
Is brand new The reward is reserved for them and the success screen shows a QR code to scan at the counter.

For a new customer — do this at the counter

The success screen reads “Reward sent — have them scan this”. Ask the customer to scan the QR code with their ordinary phone camera while they are still in front of you. This is the most reliable route and works on every network.

If they cannot scan, you also have:

  • the short reward code printed beneath the QR, which they can type;
  • Text customer — opens a ready-made message;
  • Share claim link — opens your phone’s share sheet.

Why the QR matters. Some Philippine networks — Smart, Sun, TNT, and DITO — block text messages that contain web links. That block is applied by the receiving network, so no supplier change fixes it. Customers on those networks get a link-free text naming the amount and your business instead. Always offer the QR at the counter. It never depends on the text arriving.

For a returning customer — the QR opens their wallet

When the customer has claimed a reward from you before, the points are already in their wallet and there is nothing to claim. The success screen still reads “Reward sent — have them scan this”, and the QR code opens their rewards page (www.microcurrency.com/rewards) — the same address the confirmation text names, in case that text never arrives or they don’t remember it.

  • If they scan with the phone they signed in with before, their wallet opens straight away — no code is sent.
  • On a different phone or browser, the page asks for their phone number and texts them a one-time code (or takes their quick-access PIN).

There are no “Text customer” or “Share claim link” buttons on this screen: there is no claim link to share.

Rules and limits

  • Reserved rewards expire after 30 days and the points return to you.
  • Sending again to the same unclaimed number tops up the same reward — it does not create a duplicate — and restarts the claim window.
  • You cannot send more than your available balance.
  • No branches, no sending. If the currency has no branches, the chooser reads “No branches yet. Create a branch for this currency in the MyCurrency app to send rewards.” and Review stays disabled.

What your customer experiences

Useful to know when a customer asks you at the counter.

Scanning the QR. The page names the amount, the currency, your business, and a partly hidden version of their own phone number — enough for them to spot a mistyped number, not enough to give it away to anyone looking over their shoulder. A 6-digit code arrives by text; entering it opens their rewards wallet with the points inside.

Tapping a claim link from a text. The first tap opens the wallet with no code at all — the link itself proves the phone. The reward is claimed automatically, and the used link then stops working as a sign-in.

Coming back later. Their rewards wallet lives at a permanent web address. A remembered browser opens it straight away; an unfamiliar one asks for a one-time code or their 4-digit PIN. That memory lasts 90 days between visits.

Linking to MyCurrency. From their rewards page a customer can tap Link with the MyCurrency app, approve inside the app, and confirm. From then on every reward you send goes straight into their MyCurrency wallet. They can also type their username manually.

Deleting their wallet. A customer can permanently delete their reward wallet from the bottom of that page. Their remaining balance is frozen forever — warn them to link a MyCurrency account first if they want to keep it.

8

Show QR — instant rewards for MyCurrency users

For customers who already have the MyCurrency app installed and signed in, this is the fastest route.

  1. From Home tap Show QR, or use the shortcut on the Send tab.
  2. Pick the currency and branch.
  3. Enter a whole number of points, or switch to Points back and enter the purchase total. Add an optional memo.
  4. Tap Generate QR.
  5. Show the phone to the customer. A countdown reads “Expires in Ns — waiting for scan…”.
  6. They scan with the MyCurrency app and receive the points instantly. Your screen flips to a green check — Points delivered — and your phone gets a “QR reward redeemed” notification.

After about a second and a half the form resets for the next customer.

Notes:

  • While the code is live, the amount is set aside from your available balance. If the code expires unscanned, the hold is released automatically within about 5 minutes.
  • After expiry, tap Regenerate QR for a fresh code with the same values. Each regeneration is a new reward.
  • The same code can never be scanned twice — the points are delivered exactly once.
  • Points-back mode must produce at least 1 whole point, or the code is refused.
9

Store redemption — customers spend their points

This is the reverse direction: the customer pays you in points.

  1. Open the Store (Redeem) tab.
  2. Pick the currency, then the store.
  3. Available Products lists that store’s rewards, priced in the currency’s own code (for example 10 LQI).
  4. Tap a product. Set the quantity with the − / + stepper.
  5. Tap Redeem with Points. A Redemption QR appears, reading “Waiting for redemption…”.
  6. The customer scans it with their MyCurrency app, reviews the product and total, and confirms.
  7. Your screen flips to Redemption successful and resets after about a second and a half.

If nothing is confirmed within 10 minutes, the card reads “Redemption not confirmed yet.” Tap Show again for a fresh code.

Common causes of a stuck redemption:

  • The customer cancelled, or does not hold enough of that currency.
  • Their MyCurrency app is out of date — their screen shows the product but no confirm button. Ask them to update.
  • The code expired. Show a fresh one.

Your redemption history lives behind the History pill on that tab, with each row showing the product, a status chip (Redeemed / Waiting / Expired), the quantity and price, the time, and which staff member ran it.

Redemptions never change your balance — the value moves on the MyCurrency platform. The list is a record of what customers took away.

10

Staff accounts

Master merchants only. Settings → Subaccounts.

Inviting a staff member

  1. Tap Invite a submerchant.
  2. Enter their phone number and tap Send invite.
  3. They receive a text message with a one-time link.
  4. They tap it, the app opens Accept Submerchant Invite, they choose a password of at least 8 characters, and they are signed in on the spot.

Invite rules:

  • A link is valid for 7 days.
  • Re-inviting the same number kills every older link — only the newest works.
  • You must wait 2 minutes between invites to the same number.
  • You can have at most 25 outstanding invites at a time.
  • A phone number that already belongs to another merchant’s staff cannot be invited until they leave that merchant.
  • The employee must have the app installed — accepting always happens in the app.

Managing staff

Each active staff row has two buttons:

Button What it does
Remove Detaches them. They keep their own account and any balances, but lose access to your store and are signed out everywhere at once.
Delete Permanently deletes their account. Their remaining balances are frozen forever, all access is revoked, and the phone number is freed. This cannot be undone.

Deleted staff linger under Deleted accounts with a masked phone number until you tap Remove to clear the entry — which only tidies the list.

Cancel a pending invite with the red Cancel button; the link dies immediately.

11

Activity history and notifications

View full history on Home opens All activity — every event on your account, newest first, 20 at a time, loading more as you scroll.

Filter with the All / Outgoing / Incoming switch, then narrow further with chips:

  • Outgoing — Sent, Claimed, Forwarded, Expired
  • Incoming — Deposited, Received

Tap any entry for Transaction details: the action, date and time, amount, currency, counterparty, and — on rewards — the sales location and the applied points-back rate.

Reading the symbols:

Symbol Meaning
Green + Points came in.
Dark Points went out.
Blue A reward was delivered — its points were already set aside when you sent it, so nothing changed at that moment.
Reward returned A reward expired unclaimed or was cancelled; the points came back to you.

Notifications are pushed to your signed-in devices:

  • “QR reward redeemed” — a customer scanned your reward QR.
  • “Voucher redeemed” — a redemption you showed is complete.
  • When staff run a redemption, the master merchant is notified too.

If you decline notification permission nothing breaks — the counter screens still confirm on their own, just a few seconds slower.

12

Transferring currency ownership

Use this when a currency is already owned by a different merchant account and should move to yours. Master accounts only.

  1. Tap Transfer ownership — on the welcome screen (fresh account) or the Home dashboard’s Currency ownership card.
  2. Search and pick a currency labelled Owned by another merchant.
  3. Tap Request ownership transfer. A confirmation amount is generated.
  4. The currency’s issuer sends exactly that amount from their MyCurrency wallet to the Checkout account.
  5. Tap I have sent the confirmation amount. On success: Ownership transferred.

You have 15 minutes. Tapping the button again within the window resumes the same request with the same amount.

What moves and what does not

Ownership ✅ Moves to you. All future deposits follow.
The previous owner’s balance ❌ Stays with them. They keep it, can still spend it, and see an Ownership transferred badge on it.

If both sides genuinely want the old balance handed over too, the previous owner sends it as an ordinary reward — a separate, voluntary step.

Only one transfer request can be open per currency at a time. If another merchant already has one open, wait for it to confirm or expire.

13

Account settings, passwords, and deletion

Forgot your password

On the sign-in screen tap Forgot password?

  1. Enter the phone number on your account and tap Send code.
  2. Enter the 6-digit code from the text message and tap Verify.
  3. Choose a new password (at least 8 characters) and tap Update password.

You are signed in on this device automatically, and every other device signed in to that account is signed out. The screen tells you so before you commit.

The code lasts 10 minutes and locks after 5 wrong attempts — tap Resend code when the countdown allows.

For privacy, the code screen opens whether or not the number has an account. A number with no account simply never receives a text.

Deleting your account

Settings → Account → the red Danger zoneDelete account.

Two confirmations are required. Then:

  • Your merchant account is deleted, and every staff account under it.
  • Open staff invites are cancelled.
  • Any points still on the accounts are frozen forever — nobody receives them.
  • Your phone number is freed for a brand-new registration.
  • Customers keep every point you already issued them, and can still use it.

There is no restore, no deactivate-and-come-back. Registering the same number later creates a fresh, empty account.

A deletion is refused while money is still moving — a delivery still retrying, or an active payment QR. Wait a few minutes and try again.

Staff members can delete their own account the same way; their former owner then sees the entry under Deleted accounts.

Troubleshooting

What you see What it means What to do
Unable to load wallet. Tap to retry Connection or server problem. The freshness pill reads Degraded. Tap to retry or pull down. If it persists, note the time and escalate.
Select a currency first on the action tiles No currency is chosen. Pick one from the currency box.
No currencies in the currency box Nothing is linked to this account yet. Claim a currency (section 4).
“No branches yet…” on the sales-location picker The currency has no branches. Create a branch in the MyCurrency app.
“Couldn’t load this currency’s branches.” Branch list failed to load. Tap Retry. Sending waits until they load.
“Amount exceeds available balance.” You are trying to send more than you can. Lower the amount, or wait for reserved rewards to be claimed or expire.
“phone number is already registered” That number already has a merchant or staff account. Sign in instead. Never register over someone’s number — escalate instead.
“verification code is invalid” Wrong code; attempts count down. Retype. After 5 failures only a resend recovers.
“Only master accounts can access ownership actions.” You are on a staff account. Sign in as the master account.
“We received a transfer, but it doesn’t match…” Wrong confirmation amount. Do not start over. Send the exact amount for the same attempt.
“Your transfer arrived after the 15-minute window.” Too slow — the points are held safely. Start a fresh claim; the held points come with it.
Redemption not confirmed yet. 10 minutes passed with no customer confirmation. Tap Show again for a fresh code.
QR expired — regenerate to continue Nobody scanned in time. Tap Regenerate QR. The hold releases on its own.
Ownership transferred badge on your balance The currency moved to another merchant. Normal. Your remaining balance is still yours to spend.
Customer says the text never arrived Their network probably blocks messages containing links. Use the QR code at the counter, or read them the short reward code.
Returned to the sign-in screen unexpectedly Your 24-hour session expired. Sign in again.
Balance looks wrong after a deposit Deposits credit automatically, but the screen may be stale. Pull down to refresh and check the freshness pill.
15

Counter checklist

Every reward:

  • Correct phone number typed
  • Correct branch selected — this sets the rate, and it is stamped on the record
  • Right mode: points typed directly, or purchase total in Points back
  • Reviewed the summary before confirming
  • For a new customer: QR shown and scanned before they walk away

Every shift:

  • Freshness pill is green, not Degraded
  • Available balance is enough for the day
  • Yesterday’s history looks right

Never:

  • Register a merchant account over a phone number that is not yours
  • Start a fresh claim when the app has told you to retry the existing one
  • Assume a text message arrived — confirm with the customer
16

Getting help

Have these ready:

  • your phone number (the account identity)
  • the currency involved
  • the date and time, ideally from the screen itself — the sign-in screen and failure messages show both local time and UTC
  • a screenshot

Support can look up your account, your history, and any deposit or reward.

Cannot be reversed: a delivered reward, a completed redemption, a confirmed ownership transfer, or a deleted account. Reserved rewards that were never claimed return to you automatically after 30 days.
